Seven Keys, Seven Chords, One Chart

The Chord Chart Poster from MusicDiagrams.com puts forty-nine chords on a single sheet: the triads and sevenths you reach for most, in the keys of C, D, E, F, G, A and B. Each row is a key, each column is a chord type, and every cell shows the chord written out on a treble staff with its key signature, the spelled notes underneath, and the number recipe at the top of the column.

See the Chord, Read the Notes, Know the Recipe

The chart works three ways at once. If you read music, you can play straight from the staff. If you are still learning, the note names under each staff spell the chord out letter by letter. And if you want the logic behind it, the header gives the formula — 1-3-5, 1-3-5-7, 1-3-5-b7, 1-b3-5, 1-b3-5-b7, 1-3-#5, 1-b3-b5 — so you can build the same chord from any root you like.

Because every key row is laid out the same way, you can read across a row to compare C, Cmaj7, C7, Cm, Cm7, Caug and Cdim, or drop down a column to watch the same chord type change spelling as the key changes.

What's on the Poster

  • Seven keys: C, D, E, F, G, A and B, each with its key signature printed on the staff
  • Seven chord types: major, major 7th, dominant 7th, minor, minor 7th, augmented and diminished
  • Real notation: every chord written on a treble staff rather than as a shape or a letter name alone
  • Notes spelled out under each chord, flats and double sharps included (C-Eb-Gb, B-D#-F##)
  • Number recipes in the header so each column teaches the formula as well as the chord
  • Color-coded key blocks that make each row easy to find while you are playing
  • Clean portrait layout with generous margins, readable from a music stand or across a room
